The Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission (NERC) has issued a three-step guideline for electricity consumers seeking to resolve power supply, billing, and metering complaints.

This was disclosed on Tuesday in a post from NERC’s official X handle, adding that Distribution Companies (DisCos) remain the primary point of contact for electricity consumers and are mandated to handle technical and commercial concerns.

The post reads as follows: “Having issues with your electricity supply? Start here:

“Step 1: Reach out to your DisCo’s customer care. They are your first point of contact for technical or billing issues.

“Step 2: Not resolved? If you are in a state that has transitioned to a State Electricity Regulator (SER), escalate your complaint to them.

“Step 3: For all other states, or if you need further help, contact the NERC Call Centre. We’re here to make sure your complaint is heard and addressed.”

The Commission also noted that complaints can be submitted via the following phone numbers: 0201 344 4331 and 0908 899 9244 or via email at This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it..
