President Bola Tinubu has approved the appointment of Abel Olumuyiwa Enitan as the new Head of the Civil Service of the Federation, with effect from August 27, 2026.
He will succeed Didi Esther Walson-Jack, who is due for retirement from the Federal Civil Service upon reaching the statutory retirement age of 60 years.
The president wished Walson-Jack “a fulfilling and successful life after service” and thanked her for her years of commitment and impact in the public service, especially the innovations and reforms in the Civil Service during her tenure.
According to a statement issued by the President’s Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, which stated that "Mr Enitan, from Osun State, is the most senior Permanent Secretary in the Federal Civil Service.
“He brings considerable institutional experience and a deep understanding of how the Federal Civil Service works to his new responsibility.”
Enitan is currently the Permanent Secretary, Federal Ministry of Education, and has also served as Permanent Secretary in the Office of the Vice President, the Ministry of Police Affairs, and the Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Alleviation.
