The Minister of Labour and Employment, Chris Ngige has disclosed that the Federal Government is committed to ending the industrial action soon as talks with the Academic Staff Union of the Nigerian Universities (ASUU) resume today. The Minister has dismissed that contrary to insinuations that the Federal Government was playing lackadaisical attitude by not engaging the ASUU was not true as a series of meetings have been ongoing and they are almost near agreement with the academicians. The minister made these remarks while engaging the newsmen at the State House shortly after the meeting with Federal Executive Council (FEC) yesterday.

The Kaduna State Universal Basic Education Board (KADSUBEB) has revealed via its spokesperson, Hauwa Mohammed, in a statement on 19th June 2022 that the board had conducted a competency test for over thirty thousand (30,000) teachers in December 2021, and out of the total number, two thousand one hundred and ninety-two (2,192) primary school teachers has been relieved from their work including the National President of the Nigeria Union of Teachers (NUT) Audu Amba for refusal to sit for the test.

The National Examinations Council (NECO) has announced that it has “extended the registration period of the 2022 Senior School Certificate Examination (SSCE) for school-based candidates to midnight of Monday 20th June 2022”. This was announced on Monday in a statement signed by NECO’s, Head of Information and Public Relations, Azeez Sani.

Ekiti State University in Ado Ekiti yesterday after a resolution at the ASUU meeting has announced school resumption today Tuesday 24th May 2022. Information and Corporate Affairs Director, Bode Olofinmuagun disclosed this in a statement yesterday, saying the decision was reached on Monday after the school management meeting that took place in the school. Olofinmuagun revealed that the school management has reviewed and discussed the impact of the industrial action with all the four staff unions of the institution.

President Muhammadu Buhari has approved the immediate appointment of Brigadier General Mohammed Fada as the new Director-General (DG) of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC). According to reports, Fada is expected to resume on Wednesday and was briefed on Tuesday by the outgoing DG, Major General Shuaibu Ibrahim, who served for two tenures.

The Head of Public Affairs and Protocol of Joint Admission and Matriculation Board (JAMB) Dr. Fabian Benjamin has announced the release of the 2022 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination(UTME) in a press statement issued on 14th May 20222. Inline to the statement, to check the 2022 UTME result, all a candidate is required is to send UTMERESULT to 55019 using the same phone number the candidate had used in registration and the result will be replied as a text message to the same phone number, as this is the only avenue for checking this year result as the Board has not uploaded it on its website yet.
