The House of Representatives has called for the closure of illegal loan platforms used by “one chance” operatives to extort money from victims. The resolution followed a motion of urgent public importance moved by Billy Osawaru during plenary on Wednesday.

The World Bank and other stakeholders have called on the Nigerian government to as a matter of urgency fight institutional corruption to a standstill as it is the only sure way to sustainable growth and development.

The Nigerian Police Force has confirmed the arrest of human rights lawyer, Dele Farotimi today, over alleged dafamation and other charges. The Commissioner of Police in Ekiti State, Adeniran Akinwale, stated that Farotimi was arrested for various alleged offences.

Following a controversy of capping to withdrawal of retirement savings from the Pension Commission, PENCOM, the agency has issues new circular approving Low-income earning pensioners to withdraw their total retirement savings en bloc or continue to receive their monthly pension pending the approval of the Minimum Pension Guarantee.
