The Nigerian Association of Resident Doctors, (NARD), has embarked on a seven-day warning strike over the abduction of their colleague, Dr Ganiyat Popoola, a registrar in the Department of Opthalmology at the National Eye Centre, Kaduna and has been in kidnappers' den for eight months. This development was made known by the President of NARD, Dr Dele Abdullahi, during a virtual meeting held on Sunday with the National Executive Council.

Following the renewed pogrom unleashed by bandits in villages across Niger state, the State Government has called on the Nigerian Army to deploy more troops to the affected communities in the state placed under siege by bandits. The call followed an unabated attacks on several local governments areas in the state that have succumb to faith as residents either get killed or abducted on daily bases.

The Nigeria Hydrological Services Agency (NIHSA) on Friday issued a public warning over the rising water levels in River Niger. This was revealed by the NIHSA director-general Umar Mohammed in a statement that floodwaters from these countries are gradually moving towards Nigeria, starting with Kebbi. According to NIHSA, the development is attributed to upstream activities in Niger and Mali, with reports from the Niger Basin Authority (NBA) in Niamey, Niger Republic.

The Chief Judge of Akwa Ibom, Justice Ekaete Fabian Obot had ordered the release of 44 inmates from the correctional facilities in the state. The freed inmates whom among them are two females, and 42 males were accused of minor crimes, says Justice Obot on Thursday.

The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) announced a significant victory in its ongoing fight against terrorism, reporting the successful elimination of five key terrorist commanders and over 35 foot soldiers. The air strikes were conducted in Arina, Southern Tumbuns, Borno State, as part of Operation Hadin Kai.
