The Nigerian Police Force has confirmed the arrest of human rights lawyer, Dele Farotimi today, over alleged dafamation and other charges. The Commissioner of Police in Ekiti State, Adeniran Akinwale, stated that Farotimi was arrested for various alleged offences.

Following a controversy of capping to withdrawal of retirement savings from the Pension Commission, PENCOM, the agency has issues new circular approving Low-income earning pensioners to withdraw their total retirement savings en bloc or continue to receive their monthly pension pending the approval of the Minimum Pension Guarantee.

The Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) have hinted that it is set to retire about 1,000 of its employees before the end of the year, Saying the retirement severance would cost the apex bank over N50 billion as payoff to the affected workers. President Bola Tinubu has approached the Senate to confirm the appointment of Lieutenant-General Olufemi Oluyede as the substantive Chief of Army Staff, COAS. The appeal is in line with Section 218 (2) of the 1999 Constitution (as amended) and Section 18 (1) of the Armed Forces Act, and was conveyed to the lawmakers in a letter read during a plenary session this afternoon by Senate President, Godswill Akpabio.
