The Bill seeking to involve the Nigerian Armed Forces to engage in agriculture production to enhance food security and foster economic diversification has passes a second reading at the plenary of House of Representatives yesterday. The bill was sponsored by Babajimi Benson (APC, Lagos), as it seeks to establish the “Armed Forces Farms and Ranches,” leveraging military resources to boost agricultural output.

Minister of Power, Chief Adebayo Adelabu, has insisted that there must be an enactment of a legislation to make vandalisation of electricity transmission installations a capital offence. He urged members of the National Assembly to speedily pass the bill seeking to criminalise the act. According to him, prescribing a capital punishment for the crime will reduce the incidents of vandalisation of the infrastructure.
