Abuja-based Human Rights Radio, popularly known is ‘berekete family reality radio’ has gone off air in protest over arrest and detention of minors from Kano and Kaduna states during the #EndBadGovernance protest in August, 2024. Ahmed Isah, owner and host of the radio station made the announcement this morning while featuring on the Berekete family, a breakfast radio programme.

The Chief of Defence Staff (CDS), Gen. Musa gave the charge during the taking over of office by Maj.-Gen. Olufemi Oluyede as the Acting Chief of Army Staff (COAS) on Friday in Abuja. He said that Nigeria as a nation was going through several challenges that required all hands on deck, adding that President Bola Tinubu decided to appoint the acting COAS to ensure continuity and avoid any gap.

President Bola Tinubu has appointed Major General Olufemi Olatubosun Oluyede as the Acting Chief of Army Staff (COAS). According to a release issued on Wednesday by the Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, Oluyede will act in the position pending the return of the indisposed substantive Chief of Army Staff, Lt. General Taoreed Abiodun Lagbaja. Until his appointment, Oluyede served as the 56th Commander of the elite Infantry Corps of the Nigerian Army, based in Jaji, Kaduna.

The Bill seeking to involve the Nigerian Armed Forces to engage in agriculture production to enhance food security and foster economic diversification has passes a second reading at the plenary of House of Representatives yesterday. The bill was sponsored by Babajimi Benson (APC, Lagos), as it seeks to establish the “Armed Forces Farms and Ranches,” leveraging military resources to boost agricultural output.
