Southern Borno Senator, Mohammed Ali Ndume, has condemned renewed Boko Haram onslaught on Ngoshe community and Mussa in in Gwoza and Askira/Uba Local Government Areas respectively which left several people dead over the weekend. In Ngoshe, five farmers were slaughtered while tilling their farmlands on Saturday morning. The same night in Mussa, gunmen invaded the community, killing three youths and setting houses and shops ablaze setting pandemonium in both communities.
Reacting through a statement on Sunday, Ndume described the incidents as “heartbreaking and deeply painful,” lamenting the continuous targeting of innocent citizens, especially farmers and youths by the terrorist beasts.
Ndume said, “I am profoundly saddened by these senseless killings. Our people, whose only pursuit is peace and livelihood, continue to fall victim to insurgents.”
The senator applauded the efforts of troops under Operation Hadin Kai but urged the federal and state governments to re-enforce security presence in rural areas. He called for more deployment of personnel, sophisticated weapons, and air support to protect farming communities.
Ndume also urged residents to remain vigilant and cooperate with security agencies, stressing that unity and resilience are vital in confronting insurgency.
