The newly appointed Minister of Defence and immediate past Chief of Defence Staff, retired Gen. Christopher Musa, officially took office on Friday at the Ministry of Defence Ship House, Abuja. Gen. Musa, who was appointed on Tuesday by President Bola Tinubu after the resignation of former minister Muhammed Badaru, received Senate confirmation on Thursday.
His appointment, widely welcomed across multiple sectors, is anticipated to further bolster defence operations, with many referencing his track record of decisive and innovative leadership as defence chief from 2023 to 2025.
The new minister arrived at the ministry around 11:10 a.m, reviewed the quarter guard in adherence to military tradition, and greeted service chiefs and senior officials upon arrival.
As at the time of filing this report, he is engaged in a closed-door meeting with the service chiefs and the ministry's directors.
