The Warri-Itakpe rail transport service resumes full operations on Monday as passengers’ purchases tickets ready to inbound at the Ujevwe trail facility. The Nigerian Railway Corporation, NRC, earlier suspended the train service on the Warri-Itakpe route for Friday, shortly after a coach from the Itakpe train derailed on track at the Major Gen. David Ejor rail station on Thursday. The Minister of Transportation, Senator Ahmed Alkali, while re-assuring passengers of their continued safety, announced the resumption of the Warri-Itakpe station on Sunday.
Alkali, stated this during an inspection of the Agbor-Abraka train station, adding that the train operation was set to resume services on Monday.
“We are happy that the incident did not lead to any casualty, it is an operational issue and we are happy to see that NRC has used its internal resources to fix the track.”
“By tomorrow Monday, the train will resume its operation. We thanked God that the accident did not claim any life”.
