President Bola Tinubu has appointed six Chief Medical Directors (CMDs) for Federal Government-owned hospitals in Akure, Gombe, Azare, Lafia, Maiduguri and Kafanchan which was disclosed in a statement issued on Friday by the Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga.
The newly appointed CMDs include Prof. Olusegun Ojo who has been appointed Chief Medical Director of the Federal Teaching Hospital, Akure, Ondo State.
According to the statement, Prof. Yusuf Abdullahi was reappointed as the CMD of the Federal Teaching Hospital, Gombe, “following an outstanding performance during his first term.”
President Tinubu also confirmed the Acting CMD of the Federal Teaching Hospital, Azare, Bauchi State, Dr. Dauda Katagum, as the substantive CMD while Dr. Ikrama Hassan was appointed as the CMD of the newly upgraded Federal Teaching Hospital in Lafia, Nasarawa State.
Dr. Ali Ramat, a Consultant Orthopaedic and Spine Surgeon, was appointed as the CMD of the newly established National Orthopedic Hospital in Maiduguri, Borno State.
Dr Haruna Shehu, a Consultant Family Physician, was also appointed CMD of the newly established Federal Medical Centre (FMC), Kafanchan, Kaduna State.
The statement further disclosed that “all appointments are for four years, effective from the respective dates of assumption of office.”
