In anticipation of the 2026 flooding, the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) has activated its National Emergency Operations Centre (NEOC) to strengthen preparedness and response efforts.

This was made known on Tuesday by NEMA’s Director-General, Zubaida Umar, during the activation and inauguration of members of the centre at the NEMA Headquarters in Abuja.

The agency's DG encouraged the team to be diligent, proactive and professional while performing their duties.

She said, “Information generated and disseminated from this centre must be factual, timely, and reliable to support effective decision-making and efficient management of disasters.”
