The management of the Dangote Petroleum Refinery and Petrochemicals has announced that it is reorganizing its workforce, supposedly as a result of repeated sabotage by staff.
This was contained in a letter dated September 24, 2025, and signed by the Chief General Manager, Human Asset Management, Femi Adekunle, said it was “constrained to carry out a total reorganization of the plant” following “many recent cases of reported sabotage in different units of the Petroleum Refinery leading to major safety concerns.”
The letter stated that affected staff members should hand over all the property of the company in their possession to their line managers before receiving their entitlements, which would be handled by the finance department according to their conditions of service.
Analysts suggest that this move was a result of a continued trade dispute between the Dangote refinery and the Petroleum and Natural Gas Senior Staff Association of Nigeria (PENGASSAN) over the unionization of workers of the Dangote refinery.
According to reports, PENGASSAN has called for an emergency meeting of its National Executive Council as a result of this recent development.
