Nollywood actor and content creator and actor, Odira Nwobu, has been reported dead. The news was shared on Monday by blogger and fellow creator Awuzie Frankline, who announced the development in a Facebook post accompanied by a video showing Nwobu lying unresponsive. Frankline did not disclose the circumstances surrounding the reported death, but hinted that Nwobu allegedly passed away hours after a night out at a club in South Africa over the weekend.
In an emotional post, Frankline wrote: “God, why! Odira, why leave us… The call I received now was not a good one. #Odiegwu.”
Stanley Ontop alleged that Odira Nwobu died of high blood pressure after returning from a club in South Africa last night. The post reads, “According to the report, he had high blood pressure. Omo, it’s well, someone who was in the club last night “.
It would be recalled that Odira Nwobu first stepped into the spotlight through his viral comedy skits, where he adopted the persona ‘Joseph The Dreamer’.
Odira Nwobu was born on May 24, 1982, in Enugu, Nigeria. Notably, he is a talented Nigerian actor, comedian, and content creator, best known for his hilarious skits and roles in Nollywood movies.
He’s been recognized for his comic talent and earned a Best Comic Actor nomination at the African Movie Academy Awards.
According to reports, Odira Nwobu was in a crash on the Lagos Ibadan Expressway back in June 2025, where he narrowly survived as the sole survivor from his vehicle. A viral video showed him lying on the roadside, blood-stained but conscious, as bystanders scrambled to help.
Authorities and family sources have yet to officially confirm the incident.
