The Medical and Dental Consultants Association of Nigeria (MDCAN) has issued a 21-day ultimatum to the Federal Government over non-universal implementation of CONMESS for all medical and dental doctors irrespective of the agencies of the government they represent.
Nasarawa State government has disclosed its plans to administer a free cervical vaccine to girls between ages nine and 14 years to protect them from Human Papilloma Virus (HPV). This was revealed by the Executive Secretary, of Nasarawa State Primary Healthcare Development Agency (NAPHDA), Dr. Mohammed Addis, at a stakeholders meeting, yesterday, in Lafia the state capital. The chairman, who was represented at the occasion by the Programme Manager of, the State Emergency Routine Immunisation Coordination Centre, Ismaila Oko, explained that Nasarawa was among the 16 states in the country selected for the first phase of the vaccination. He noted that the vaccine had been procured already and stored in the state for onward distribution to various centres.

Doctors under the aegis of the Nigerian Association of Resident Doctors (NARD) have halted plans for its daily nationwide protest after a closed-door meeting with the leadership of the Senate. NARD President, Emeka Orji, made this known in a chat with newsmen after the meeting on Tuesday, adding, however, that there will be a review in the next 72 hours. “We met with the Senate president, majority and minority leaders, and Whip. So, the planned protest slated for Wednesday has been suspended and we will review it again in 72 hours.”
The Federal Capital Territory chapter of the Nigeria Medical Association (NMA) has urged the Tinubu government to reconsider its “no work, no pay” policy against medical workers. The call by the association was made in collaboration with the Nasarawa and Kogi states chapters at a news conference on Sunday in Abuja to usher in the 2023 Annual General Meeting (AGM), and Scientific conference of the NMA-FCT. according to NAN.
