The Nigerian Association of Resident Doctors (NARD) on Wednesday raised alarm over the country’s dire doctor-to-patient ratio of 1:9,083, a figure it described as far below international standards. In a statement released to mark Nigeria’s 65th Independence anniversary, the association announced that beginning October 1, 2025, resident doctors nationwide will no longer be compelled to work continuous shifts beyond 24 hours. The communiqué was jointly signed by NARD President, Dr. Mohammad Suleiman; Secretary-General, Dr. Shuaibu Ibrahim; and Publicity and Social Secretary, Dr. Abdulmajid Ibrahim.

The alert was posted on the agency’s website stated that Promasidor Nigeria Ltd, a marketing authorization holder and manufacturer of Cowbell “Our Milk” informed the agency about the existence of a product bearing a close resemblance to the genuine Cowbell “Our Milk” 12g sachet Milk currently circulating in the Nigerian market.

President Bola Tinubu has approved the subsidy for the cost of kidney dialysis in federal hospitals in Nigeria. A single dialysis session costs around N50,000 but with the newly approved subsidy, the new subsidized cost will be N12,000; a 76% cost reduction.
