The Federal Government has called on Nigerians living with cancer to register with the National Health Insurance Authority, NHIA, to benefit an affordable medication and financial assistance as against costly treatment. The Osun State NHIA Coordinator, Olakekan Falode made the appeal during a sensitisation programme held at the Obafemi Awolowo University Teaching Hospital Complex, OAUTHC, Ile-Ife, highlighting the importance of health insurance, particularly for managing terminal illnesses and life-threatening conditions like cancer.

In light of changing global assistance dynamics of Nigeria's HIV response, the National Agency for the Control of AIDS has revealed plans to hold the seventh National Council on AIDS. The announcement was made by the Agency in a statement signed by the chairman of the planning committee, Dr. Daniel Ndukwe, on Thursday. A man in his 50s has died after being infected with Australian bat Iyssavirus (ABLV), a rare but deadly virus. He became the first confirmed case in New South Wales, health officials said on Thursday, July 3. The man, who lived in the northern part of the state, died several months after being bitten by a bat. Doctors treated him in the hospital for several weeks, but he didn't recover. His death marks only the fourth known fatal case of ABLV in Australia.
