Benue State has reported 31 suspected cases of Mpox in five Local Government Areas (LGAs), namely: Makurdi, Ushongo, Gwer East, Katsina-Ala, and Guma. This was revealed on Thursday at the Benue State Stakeholders' Engagement/Town Hall Meeting on the Mpox Vaccination Rollout by Mrs. Grace Wende, Executive Secretary of the Benue State Primary Health Care Board. Seven of the suspected instances were confirmed, she explained.

The United Nations Children’s Emergency Fund (UNICEF) has called on the Kano State government to invest more in the healthcare workforce of the rural dwellers, to guarantee communities having access to round-the-clock medical services. Chief of UNICEF Field Office in Kano, Rahama Farah, made the call yesterday at the flag-off of the 2025 1st Round Maternal and Child Health Week held at Birji Primary Health Centre, Madobi LGA.

Healthcare services across the nation has been paralyzed this morning following the nationwide industrial action declared by nurses, under the umbrella of the National Association of Nigeria Nurses and Midwives, NANNM prepare to embark on a seven-day nationwide warning strike. In light of changing global assistance dynamics of Nigeria's HIV response, the National Agency for the Control of AIDS has revealed plans to hold the seventh National Council on AIDS. The announcement was made by the Agency in a statement signed by the chairman of the planning committee, Dr. Daniel Ndukwe, on Thursday. "Advancing national HIV sustainability agenda in the changing global policy on aid" is the theme of the event, which will take place in Lagos with assistance from the Lagos State Agency for the Control of AIDS.

Former Nigerian President Muhammadu Buhari is in London for medical treatment, according to reports. The former president, who served two terms and stepped down on May 29, 2023, has been overseas since April. Sources close to Mr. Buhari's family claim that he first traveled to the UK for what was billed as a standard medical examination before becoming ill. According to a source, "there are conflicting reports about when exactly he became unwell." Some claim he was flown away after becoming ill in Nigeria. Others maintain that he only became ill after traveling to London for routine checkups.
