The World Health Organisation (WHO) has disclosed that the Ebola outbreak in the eastern Democratic Republic of Congo was declared over as it does not constitute an international public health emergency any longer. The outbreak was recorded as the second-largest Ebola epidemic with 3,463 confirmed cases and 2,277 deaths in over two years. The Congolese Minister of Public Health, Dr. Eteni Longondo has on Thursday announced that the outbreak in the northeastern region of the country in the Ituri and North Kivu provinces. He added that DR Congo had for over 55 days not recorded a single case of the deadly disease.

Fresh 684 COVID-19 cases have been recorded in 18 states and the Federal Capital Territory on Friday, as revealed by the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control, NCDC, data.

Following the global fight against the Coronavirus and the need to boost recovery, the World Health Organisation (WHO) has approved the use of dexamethasone, a steroid that has life-saving potentials, in the treatment of critically ill COVID-19 patients. Tedros Ghebreyesus, the WHO Director-General made the disclosure during a virtual briefing from Geneva, saying there is a need to increase the production of the drug for worldwide distribution. He said though "the data on it is still preliminary,” the recent finding has given the world a much-needed reason to celebrate.

Following the announcement of 436 new COVID-19 infections, Nigeria has on Sunday recorded over 20,000 Coronavirus cases. The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) made the announcement during its daily updates in Abuja, adding that the new cases were recorded in 18 states. Lagos states recorded the highest with 169 new cases while Oyo and Plateau have 52 and 31 new cases respectively.

The Federal Government has warned that Nigeria might begin to record many deaths due to coronavirus in the next three weeks, as testing capacity has been enhanced and this would mean more cases to be recorded.

The National Association of Resident Doctors (NARD) has today announced that it has suspended the nationwide industrial action it commenced last week with effect from tomorrow June 22, 2020.
