The Nigerian military through the Defence Industries Corporation of Nigeria (DICON) has produced its first and Nigeria's first digital mechanical ventilator (DICOVENT) to help decrease the fatality ratio of COVID-19 in the country.  Major General John Enenche, Coordinator Defence Media Operations during a media briefing at the Defence Headquarters Abuja stated that the newly designed low-cost machine is a simple mechanical ventilator that can deliver positive pressured ventilation using a volume-controlled ventilation (VCV) system.

The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) has on Saturday revealed that the country has recorded 49 additional new cases in six states of the federation.

Anti-viral drug Remdesivir, formerly developed in the treatment of Ebola is been reported to be the only direct antiviral medicine that's being studied in the context of treatment for COVID-19. Hennepin Healthcare's infectious disease director, Jason Baker has revealed that the medicine has been ascertained as what directly attacks the virus.

The Director-General of the Nigerian Centre for Disease Control, (NCDC) Chikwe Ihekweazu has said that their likelihood the coronavirus pandemic will spread to all states of the federation.
