The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) yesterday disclosed that the death toll for the coronavirus in the country now has jumped to 1,083. The health agency made this known through its official twitter handle, saying that about 132 new infections were recorded. It stated that one new death was recorded that made the death toll to hit 1,083.
NCDC said Nigeria had on Monday 14th September recorded an additional 132 new cases caused by the COVID-19.
Accordingly, with the new case, the number of confirmed cases in the country now has been jumped to 56,388.
More so, additional 185 persons were successfully treated of the disease bringing the total number of treated cases in the country to 44,337.
Lagos state is the epicentre of the disease has continued to be the state with the highest number of cases as at Monday with 52 persons infected, while Gombe state followed with 27 persons and Plateau state was third with 17 cases.
Other states were Kwara-10, Enugu-9 , Ogun-9 , Katsina-3 , Ekiti-2 , Bauchi-1 , Osun-1 and Rivers-1.
The health agency said as, at Sept, 14, 1 death and 132 new cases were recorded of the deadly virus.
The statement partly reads: “Till date, 56388 cases have been confirmed, 44337 cases have been discharged and 1083 deaths have been recorded in 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory,”
Meanwhile, the NCDC urged the general public to take responsibility and maintain the success story recorded by the response group in the fight against the pandemic, saying this would reduce the public risk.
According to the health agency, they have set out new rules on self-isolation guidelines to reflect the current protocols for return travellers, saying this can be obtained from its website covid-19ncdc.gov.ng. Every returning traveller must undergo COVID-19 test after seven days of self-isolation.
