The Niger State Government says it is targeting the immunization of about 1.4 million children against measles in 2018, to prevent the outbreak of the disease in the state. The Social Mobilizing Officer of Primary Healthcare Development Agency in the state, Alhaji Mohammed Usman stated this on Wednesday in Minna at a one day Media Orientation Workshop on Measles Immunization Campaign.
He disclosed that the Agency had already trained and mobilized the required personnel to meet the set target, stressing that the exercise would be carried out in two phases from February 8 to 26, 2018.
He also hinted that the agency had reached out to religion and traditional rulers across the state in order for them to sensitize parents and locals on the imperative of the vaccine.
While calling on the media to assist the Agency in mobilizing parents to take advantage of the programme, he said the exercise would take place across all primary healthcare agencies in the state.
