According to the Obidient Movement's leadership, Peter Obi, the Labour Party's presidential candidate for 2023, and former Vice President Atiku Abubakar have not reached an agreement. Yunusa Tanko, the Obidient Movement's temporary national coordinator, stated on Tuesday that there is no agreement on a combined ticket for both leaders ahead of the 2027 elections. According to Tanko, such an agreement is a figment of people's minds because no negotiations have taken place between Atiku and Obi.
He stated, "That topic hasn't even come up. People speculate, but there's no talk right now."
Also noting that discussions are presently underway ahead of the 2027 elections, Tanko stated that all deals must be made in the interests of the Nigerian people.
"Conversations are already underway to determine how we might combine many forces. It is not limited to Peter Obi and the Labour Party. "It's about Nigeria and how we can save it," he explained.
Obi has also emphasized that he is still committed to establishing a solid coalition based on competency and aptitude rather than ethnic, religious, or political affiliation.
"It won't be business as usual. If he (Obi) raises a candidate's hand today, people will follow. That is the truth. Tanko noted that it is no longer about the party, but about the individual and the principles he represents.
