The All Progressives Congress (APC) has described the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) as a political entity on the verge of extinction due to its persistent leadership crisis. The ruling party urged Nigerians to prevent the PDP from returning to power, citing the alleged damage it caused during its 16-year tenure. APC’s National Publicity Director, Bala Ibrahim, made these remarks in an interview with Sunday PUNCH. He asserted that Nigeria was still suffering from the consequences of PDP’s rule, emphasizing that the party had lost credibility. Ibrahim further mocked the PDP’s internal turmoil, stating that the APC found their struggles entertaining and suggested they enroll in the APC Progressive Institute to learn effective political management.
Addressing allegations that the APC was behind the PDP’s crisis, Ibrahim dismissed the claims, arguing that the ruling party had no involvement in the opposition’s internal conflicts. He pointed out that none of those fueling the PDP’s crisis were affiliated with the APC.
Meanwhile, former Vice President Atiku Abubakar was notably absent from a North East PDP caucus meeting in Bauchi, where party leaders, including three PDP governors, gathered to discuss reconciliation efforts and strategies for the 2027 elections. The meeting was attended by members of the PDP Reconciliation Committee, senators, and lawmakers from the region.
