Nasarawa State Governor Abdullahi Sule has dismissed his Senior Special Adviser on Works, Ahmed Seriki, for allegedly flouting directives against early political campaigns ahead of the 2027 general elections. The Senior Special Adviser to the Governor on Public Affairs, Mr. Peter Ahemba, disclosed this during the government's monthly media briefing at the Nigerian Union of Journalists (NUJ) Centre in Lafia.
Ahemba explained that despite repeated warnings, Seriki went ahead to engage in open political campaigning, prompting the governor to relieve him of his duties.
"Governor Sule sacked the aide who engaged in open campaigning despite repeated warnings against the act," Ahemba stated.
Reports indicate that Seriki openly campaigned in support of former Inspector-General of Police Mohammed Abubakar, who is believed to be eyeing the state's governorship seat in 2027.
In a related development, Ahemba said Governor Sule remains committed to completing the Karu flyovers and underpass project before the end of his tenure. He revealed that the state government has secured approval from the federal government to construct two flyovers and an underpass in Mararaba, Karu Local Government Area.
"This development is part of the government's efforts to provide lasting solutions to the traffic challenges, particularly along the busy Karu-Mararaba corridor. The project will not only ease the movement for residents, motorists, and travelers but also enhance road quality and durability," Ahemba added.
