Israel Adesanya 'The Last Stylebender' has defeated Cuba's Yoel Romero with a unanimous score of 48-47,48-47, AND 49-46 to retain his UFC middleweight title, at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada. Saturday's fight ran Adesanya's undefeated fight record to 19-0, making him the best middleweight in the world.
The first round was far from thrilling as both fighters danced around in the octagon but things got better in other rounds with Romero landing four punches at Adesanya.
Adesanya had three blows to Romero with more kicks, which gained him more points against the Cuban.
However, some UFC fans as well as professional MMA fighters expressed their dissatisfaction on twitter, saying they expected more aggression from both fighters.
Aljamain Antoine Sterling, an MMA fighter said " I love Izzy, but in my honest opinion, Romero won that due to extreme inactivity on both parties but Romero doing slightly more."
However, American MMA fighter, Dominick Cruz backed Adesanya, saying "Adesanya fought like a champion-exactly the way he had to... You have to decisively beat the champ.
Counter fighter versus counter Fighter is the toughest chess match imo!
Respect to both I love watching The highest level of mma"
After the fight, disappointed Romero said, "People bought the pay-per-view to see a real fight – not this,
"You need to have respect for people. People paid for a pay-per-view, for what? For a fight."
