Watford football club had yesterday sacked its Manager, Xisco Munoz, as the premier league is around the corner. The club made this known in a statement through its website yesterday morning. There were speculations that Watford sacked the manager in less than 24hrs following its loos of 1-0 against Leeds United on Saturday. The sacked Manager earned a promotion from the Championship last season when he guided the Hornets into the premier League. The statement reads, “Watford FC confirms Xisco Muñoz has left his post as the club’s Head Coach,” It added “The Board feels recent performances strongly indicate a negative trend at a time when team cohesion should be visibly improving.

President Muhammadu Buhari on Thursday in Abuja urged the leadership of the world football governing body, FIFA to consider Nigeria top on its plan for support and investment. President Buhari expressed delight that Nigeria has produced excellent role models to inspire the next generation of stars to take up football. President Buhari made this request while receiving the FIFA delegation led by its president Gianni Infantino and the president of Confederation of African Football (CAF) Patrice Motsepe, at State House. They attended the opening match of maiden Aisha Buhari women’s football tournament; and NFF delegations. The President also called on the top echelon of football’s world governing body to see Nigeria as one of its greatest assets when it comes to the development of football. Mr. Infantino praised football’s uniting qualities, the power of the sport’s development, and the growth of women’s football during the two-day visit to Nigeria. He emphasised that exposure to high-level competition is the key to evolution for the Super Falcons, Super Eagles, and the wider, global game.

Remo Stars Football Club (RSFC) Head Coach Daniel Ogunmodede has joined the Portuguese side, CD Feirense as part of their Coaching Crew. Ogunmodede who in 2019 travelled to Portugal for a coaching apprenticeship, guided RSFC return to topflight football, and also qualified the Youth Team of the club for the Federations Cup after coming second in the Ogun State FA Cup.

The Nigerian Super Eagle captain, Ahmed Musa has joined the record as the third player in Nigerian History to make 100 appearances in a football game. The young talented footballer breaks this record today as he was selected to kick-start against the cape Verde in the ongoing World Cup qualifier in Mindelo. The 28yr captain appeared for the first time representing his country at the youth level before making his senior entrance on August 5th, 2010 in the 2012 African Cup of Nation qualifiers against Madagascar.
