The Super Eagle’s Media Officer, Promise Efoghe, on Monday, disclosed that the team’s captain, Wilfred Ndidi, who picked up a hamstring injury during the AFCON 2025 quarter-final, is reportedly walking now without pain, stating that Ndidi’s condition looks positive, stressing that additional medical assessments would still be conducted on him.
Efoghe said, “Wilfred Ndidi is now walking without pain, which is a positive sign for us.”
The media officer explained that the medical team is set to reassess Ndidi on Monday to determine whether a scan will be required, adding that early signs point to a minor issue.
He further noted that Ndidi will not feature in Nigeria’s semi-final encounter against host nation Morocco in any case, attributing it to his suspension, following the yellow cards issued to him in both the Round of 16 and quarter-final games.
“Even with the improvement we are seeing, Ndidi is unavailable for the semi-final because of suspension,” he stated.
“Our focus is on ensuring he recovers fully and is available for the remainder of the tournament.”
Efoghe also revealed the condition of defender Ryan Alebiosu, regarding his struggle with his health challenges.
“Ryan Alebiosu continues to improve steadily and is responding well to treatment.
“The technical and medical crews are monitoring his progress closely,” he added.
The Super Eagles, after their 2–0 victory over Algeria at the Stade de Marrakech on Saturday, arrived at their Fès camp around 3:30 p.m. on Sunday and commenced intensive training ahead of the semi-final.
“The team travelled well, and the mood in camp is very positive,” Efoghe said.
The spokesperson said the players remain fully focused, with recovery taking center stage as the team prepares for what is expected to be a highly demanding encounter.
