Deschamps claimed after Saturday's encounter that members of the Paraguay bench hurled insults at him during the match, which was also marked by several contentious refereeing decisions. Uzbek referee Ilgiz Tantashev booked three France players but did not caution any Paraguay player, despite challenges that drew criticism. Gustavo Velázquez appeared to kick Kylian Mbappé during one incident, while Matías Galarza escaped punishment after fouls on both the France captain and Jules Koundé.
Speaking after the match, Deschamps expressed his displeasure with the conduct from the opposing bench.
"I could have done without the insults on the bench. Especially some of them," Deschamps said, according to Football 365.
Responding to the allegation, Alfaro insisted he neither heard any offensive comments nor had any reason to apologise.
"Football isn't war. I'm not going to apologise for something that, to my knowledge, didn't happen. However, I am completely opposed to this kind of behaviour. If I had heard such remarks, I would have reacted immediately myself. It's unacceptable. I am totally against it."
The Paraguay coach also revealed that he sought out Deschamps after the final whistle to congratulate him and wish France success in the remainder of the tournament.
"The first thing I did after the final whistle was to go and find Didier Deschamps. I wished him all the best in reaching the final and becoming world champion. I had already told him before the match: he has a fantastic team."
France, led by Deschamps, have now reached the World Cup quarter-finals for a fourth consecutive tournament. With Kylian Mbappé and his teammates still in contention, Les Bleus are chasing a third World Cup title after their triumphs in 1998 and 2018.
