Enugu Rangers and Enyimba both lost their group opener on Sunday 3-1 and 2-0 respectively in the Confederation African Football (CAF) cup.
Rangers International Football Club took the lead in the 28th minute from Ibrahim Olawoyin before suffering from red card event where Tope Olusesi was gibing his matching order at the interval.
With 1 man down, the Rangers were punished with a 57th-minute strike from the penalty spot from Mohammed Salama who brought the game levelled for Pyramid Football Club of Egypt. Strikes from Mohammed Eldin an Islam Attia buried the game without reach from rangers, who ended up suffering an open day defeat.
While responding to this defeat, Rangers Interim Coach, Salisu Yusuf, who took over the team barely one week, after the technical crew were sacked after three consecutive losses said that his players did well but needed to believe in themselves.
”We were doing well until the red card to Tope Olusesi. The technical crew is going to work on that before our next match,”
Pyramid Coach, Sebastine Desabre, said that they met a strong team in Rangers but took their chances once it came.
”Rangers was up to the game until they were reduced to ten men and they slacked back,” Desabre said.
Enyimba International Football Club of Aba on suffered an away loss to Hassania Agadir on Sunday after going down to a 2-0 defeat at the Stade Al Inbiaâte. The Aba-based club side will host San Pedro at the Enyimba International Stadium on December 8 in a Matchday two encounter.
