Former Liverpool striker Michael Owen has identified West Ham United captain Jarrod Bowen as the ideal candidate to replace Mohamed Salah at Liverpool. Speaking after Liverpool’s 1-1 Premier League draw with Brentford on Sunday, Owen praised Bowen’s quality and suggested the England international should not be playing outside the top flight following West Ham’s relegation to the Championship.
While discussing Bowen’s future, Owen acknowledged that the winger may remain loyal to West Ham but insisted a move to a leading Premier League club would be difficult to turn down.
“Under normal circumstances, no.
“However, Jarrod Bowen is incredible; you’ve got a short career; I mean, he has to be playing in the Premier League.
“If something really, really interesting [is offered], I have said for a long time, I don’t make any apologies. Mo Salah has gone now from Liverpool; I think Bowen is the absolute perfect replacement for Mo Salah at Liverpool.”
