EPL: Slot Says There's No Reason to Reject Salah at Liverpool

Amidst mounting rumors over the winger's future, Liverpool manager Arne Slot has maintained that there are "no reasons not to want Mohamed Salah to stay" at the team. Slot stated that he will discuss the matter more with Salah on Friday morning.

Salah, 33, voiced his dissatisfaction after Liverpool's 2-2 draw at Leeds, saying he had been "thrown under the bus" by the team and was consequently left out of the squad for Tuesday's Champions League match against Inter Milan, as reported by BBC Sport on Friday. Salah told reporters at Elland Road that he had "earned his place" in the squad.

"I have no reason not to want him to stay," Slot said, reiterating his backing for the Egypt international. Mo and I are going to talk. How things turn out [on Saturday] depends on how that conversation turns out.

Liverpool is getting ready to meet Brighton at Anfield on Saturday in an attempt to recover from back-to-back Premier League draws. Salah has made 420 appearances for the Reds and scored 250 goals since agreeing to a new two-year deal in April.

He hasn't been used as a replacement, though, in two of the previous three league games. He last made an appearance as a substitute in the 1-1 draw against Sunderland on December 3, although his most recent start came in the Champions League loss to PSV Eindhoven on November 26.
