Former Liverpool manager Jürgen Klopp has confirmed he is prepared to take over as Germany's next head coach following the departure of Julian Nagelsmann. Nagelsmann stepped down from the role after Germany's disappointing campaign at the 2026 FIFA World Cup, paving the way for Klopp to emerge as the leading candidate for the position.
Speaking in New York while serving as a pundit for Magenta TV, Klopp revealed that the German Football Association had already made contact regarding the vacancy.
“Julian has stepped down, and the [federation] is working on the succession and has approached me in the course of those considerations,” Klopp said.
The 59-year-old also explained that he now feels refreshed and ready to return to the dugout after leaving Liverpool in 2024.
“About two years ago I stopped at Liverpool and said that I lacked the energy for another job or for another year with Liverpool.
“Since then I’m more than recharged; I’m ready.”
