Mikel a two-time Premier League champion, three-time FA Cup winner and the owner of Champions League, Europa League and League Cup winners’ medals has returned to English football on a short-term deal at Middlesbrough.
The Nigeria international midfielder has spent the last two years in China. He made a move to Asia in January 2017 after spending over 10 seasons at Stamford Bridge. During his time in west London, he made 374 appearances and collected numerous major honors.
That considerable experience is now about to be added to the fold at the Riverside Stadium as he seeks to help Boro secure a return to the top tier in England. Tony Pulis told the club’s official website after completing a prized capture: "I'm pleased to get him in. He is a man with a lot of experience and quality.
"He has a winning mentality and he wants to be here and a part of what we are looking to achieve."
Similarly, Victor Moses is set to finally play some competitive football, nearly four months after last featuring for Maurizio Sarri’s Chelsea.
The 28-year-old winger has taken his talents south, joining Turkish Super Lig powerhouse Fenerbahce on loan for a one-and-a-half year.
Fenerbahce has a great reputation but is having one of their worst seasons of all time, flirting with relegation halfway through the season despite finishing second last year. They already fired one coach but the bad results continue to pile up, and there’s not much money to throw at the problem either. Theoretically, this should be a good opportunity for Moses, who still has 2.5 years left on his Chelsea contract, to swoop in on loan and prove that he can be a very effective player still, either as a winger or as a wing-back.
This is Moses fourth loan since joining Chelsea in 2012. He’s put together three full seasons at Chelsea since, plus three full seasons out on loan at Liverpool, Stoke City, and West Ham.
