Real Madrid may have agreed to sack manager Zinedine Zidane at the end of the season following the internal crisis in the club, leading to the current abysmal performances by the players. According to Spanish outlet Diario Gol, the 45-year-old has the option to leave the Spanish capital in the summer.
Zidane who lead the Los Blancos to a successive Champions League titles, two Super Cups, successive Club world cups and a league title has struggled this term to replicate the feat. Currently, Madrid trail league leaders and bitter rival, Barcelona with 19 points although they have a game in hand.
The crisis in the team took a different turn when club captain Sergio Ramos clashed with Christiano Ronaldo over the latter's comment. Ronaldo had blamed the Club's poor run of form on the exit of more experienced players including James Rodriguez, Alvaro Morata and Pepe, stressing that the current squad was made up of inexperienced players.
Sergio accused Ronaldo of being selfish and insisted that there was nothing wrong with the current squad. He claimed that the squad as it is had won all available titles and wondered why Ronaldo described it as inexperienced. Although both players appear to have shelved their differences, the impact of their altercation lingers, with Madrid playing woefully in recent games.
Express reports that Zidane’s national side France could offer him their head coach position after the World Cup in Russia this summer. Current boss Didier Deschamps’ future will not be decided until after the tournament.
