Senegal has won their first-ever African Nations Championship (CHAN) after defeating host Algeria 5-4 on penalties after being level both in regulation and extra time.
Despite the disappointment of losing on home soil, fans of the Desert Foxes, who were present at the Nelson Mandela Stadium in the southern suburbs of Algiers, cheered on the players as they made it to the CHAN final for the first time, also setting a new tournament record by not conceding in six games at the tournament in regular time.
With this victory, Senegal has now won the Africa treble (2022 AFCON, 2022 CHAN and 2022 Africa Beach Soccer Cup).
