Two goals from Ahmed Musa and one from Kelechi Iheanacho were enough to dismiss the Hawks of Togo in the international friendly match played this evening in Paris, France. The Eagles have had two successive warm matches ahead of its June 10 AFCON qualifiers against the Bafana Bafana of South Africa in Uyo.
The Eagles made their intention known in the early stages of the game. As early as the third minute of the game, Alex Iwobi made light of the opponents defense with a beautiful footwork into the box. Ahmed Musa tapped in the ball as it was parried by the Hawks goalkeeper.
Musa got his second on the 20 minutes mark when he latched onto Alex Iwobi’s clever pass for another easy goal.
The Eagles dominance, possession and labour paid off when Kelechi Iheanacho once again tapping into the net after Etebo had dribbled the goalie to lay on the ball for the Manchester City forward.
It was quiet half-time, with a host of changes to the Eagles side however they held their nerves to end the match on a high.
The outcome of the friendly match against Togo did not mean they played in pedestrian fashion. The Hawks hit the post with Dele Alampasu beaten to the ball on occasion.
