The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has disclosed that the 2026 Women Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON), to be hosted by Morocco, has been postponed to July due to "unforeseen circumstances."

CAF confirmed that the tournament is now scheduled to take place from July 25 to August 16, 2026, rather than the earlier scheduled dates of March 17 to April 3, 2026.

Morocco is set to host the third successive edition of the tournament, but speculations about the country’s willingness to host the competitions increased after the controversial 2025 Men’s AFCON, where Morocco lost 1-0 to Senegal in the dramatic final match at the Stade Moulay Abdellah stadium in Rabat, Morocco.

The 14th edition of WAFCON would feature 16 teams, expanded from 12 teams from the previous competition.
