The government of Chad has disclosed the immediate closure of its border with Nigeria, claiming security concerns over alleged reports of plans by the United States (US) to invade Nigeria.
Military sources in Chad confirmed this development on Monday, adding that President Mahamat Idriss Déby Itno has directed the country’s military to take necessary action.
According to sources, the army of Chad has been placed on full alert, and troops as well as armored vehicles have been deployed at key border crossings linking Nigeria and Chad.
President Déby said, “No armed group or foreign force will be allowed to enter Chadian soil under any disguise.”
This development is a result of the declaration by President Donald Trump of the US that America is making plans to invade Nigeria to protect Nigerian Christians from alleged genocide by Islamic terrorists.
