Nigeria's Super Eagles defeated the Benin Republic's Cheetahs 4-0 in the pivotal 2026 World Cup qualifying match at Godswill Akpabio Stadium in Uyo.
Victor Osimhen opened the scoring in the 3rd minute, following an assist from Samuel Chukwueze. Osimhen scored a second goal for Nigeria in the 37th minute, after another assist from Chukweze.
In the 51st minute, Osimhen scored his 3rd goal, making the scoreline 3-0, while substitute Frank Onyeka scored in the 90th minute to seal a triumphant 4-0 victory.
With a hat-trick from Super Eagles forward Victor Osimhen and a goal from substitute Frank Onyeka in the second half, Nigeria defeated Benin by three points to secure their place in the playoffs of the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers, where they will have the chance to reach the global football competition.
