The Federal Ministry of Innovation, Science, and Technology has urged Nigerians to embrace Artificial Intelligence (AI) and other technologies as the key driver to sustainable economic growth and development in the country.

This call was made during a Global Sustainable Technology and Innovation Conference held recently in Abuja.

The Permanent Secretary, Federal Ministry of Innovation, Science and Technology, Mrs. Esuabana Asanye, while speaking during the conference, acknowledged that AI can influence our lives both negatively and positively.

She, however, noted some commendable impacts of AI, which has effectively transformed various sectors, including agriculture, healthcare, education, energy, and governance, with its potential to enhance efficiency and create opportunities for exploitation.

Asanye urged participants to utilize the knowledge acquired from the conference for personal and career advancement as well as economic development, and she also encouraged the stakeholders to collaborate in building a resilient and technologically advanced Nigeria to stand the test of time.

Chairman of the Senate Committee on Innovation, Science, and Technology, Iya Abbas, emphasized that technology is the solid foundation for the development of any nation, and he also called on Nigerians to embrace technologies to accelerate economic transformation.

Other speakers and goodwill messages highlighted the essence of embracing technological advancement, noting that no nation can afford to isolate themselves from the global wave of innovation, realigning the modern economic realities.

They stressed that Nigeria must strategically position itself to benefit from the ongoing technological revolution.
