The Attorney General and Minister of Justice Lateef Fagbemi said the Federal Government has implemented the 300% pay raise for judicial officers. Fagbemi said this on Monday at the 12th convocation ceremony of the Afe Babalola University, Ado-Ekiti (ABUAD) in Ekiti State. “I am again pleased to report that a major intervention of the Tinubu administration in the judiciary is the recent 300% upward review of the remuneration of judicial officers in Nigeria across board. To be true, I can confirm that the implementation of this has begun in earnest.”

The Super Eagles have arrived at the Malam Aminu Kano International Airport, Kano State, after their ordeal in Libya ahead of the 2025 African Cup of Nations qualifier. It was reported that the Super Eagles, who departed Nigeria on Sunday, had their flight unexpectedly diverted to a remote airport far from the match venue, resulting in an additional three-hour road journey to their destination.

Wife of Akwa Ibom Governor, Patience Umo Eno is dead. Akwa Ibom State Commissioner for Information, Ini Ememobong, announced the First Lady’s demise in a statement titled “Unexpected Sunset” in the early hours of Friday. According to the commissioner, she died at a hospital on Thursday in the presence of family members after a brief illness. He said: “It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of the Wife of the Executive Governor of Akwa Ibom State, Her Excellency, Pastor Mrs. Patience Umo Eno, following an illness.

President President Bola Tinubu has signed the newly approved National Minimum Wage into law.  The president assented to the bill on Monday, July 29, during the Federal Executive Council meeting attended by the members of the Cabinet and the leadership of the National Assembly.

Fifty-three year old popular oil mogul and politician, Senator Ifeanyi Ubah has reportedly died. The Senator representing Anambra South was said to have passed on in London. Ubah joined the All Progressives Congress, (APC) from Young Progressives Party (YPP) a few months ago and was billed to seek the party’s ticket ahead of the Anambra governorship election. A source claimed he made a monetary donation to the Anambra APC two days ago. The cause of death is still unclear as of the time of filing this report.

The United Arab Emirates (UAE) has lifted the visa restriction on Nigerian travelers. The Minister of Information, Mohammed Idris, disclosed this on Monday when he briefed State House correspondents following the weekly Federal Executive Council (FEC) meeting. In October 2022, the UAE banned citizens from approximately 20 African nations from entering its borders. Among the affected countries are Nigeria, Uganda, Ghana, Sierra Leone, Sudan, Cameroon, Liberia, Burundi, Republic of Guinea, Gambia, Togo, Democratic Republic of Congo, Senegal, Benin, Ivory Coast, Congo, Rwanda, Burkina Faso, Guinea Bissau, Comoros, and the Dominican Republic.
The Emirati authorities issued a notice to trade partners and travel agents, instructing them to reject all applications. Since the ban, the UAE and Nigeria have been embroiled in a diplomatic dispute concerning flight allocations and travel restrictions.
