A 7-day ultimatum to fish out the armed bandits that killed 16 people in Numa Kochu village of Akwanga local government area has been given to security agencies in Nasarawa state by Governor Umaru Al-Makura.

The FCT High Court in Maitama has fixed May 23 for the commencement of the trial of Babachir Lawal, former Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), and three others, over alleged N544 million fraud.

As part of plans to stem the growing tide of drug trafficking by Nigerians, the Federal Government has revealed it will commence prosecution of airline operators whose staff colludes with passengers trafficking illicit drugs. Making the assertion, at a stakeholders’ meeting at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Lagos, Brig Gen. Buba Marwa (rtd), Chairman Presidential Advisory Committee on the Elimination of Drug Abuse, warned the operator's that the federal government led by President Buhari is determined to curb the menace.

Indications have revealed that the Federal Government may continue with the trial of the outgoing Chief Justice of Nigeria, Justice Walter Onnoghen at the Code of Conduct Tribunal (CCT). Findings show that while some government officials wanted the trial concluded some members of the Bench and the Bar insisted on the decision of the National Judicial Council (NJC) to retire Justice Onnoghen.

The Minister of Defence, Mansur Dan-Ali, disclosed that some highly placed traditional rulers were fingered to be aiding the banditry to perpetrate their criminal activities. Mr, Dan-Ali said the federal government has vowed to deplete the bandits as it has deployed some troops to Zamfara state and the entire North-West to crush them.

The Federal High Court Abuja on Monday admitted in evidence, documents tendered by the 20th prosecution witness, Mr. Chris Odofin, in the N29 billion fraud trial filed against the former Governor of Adamawa, Murtala Nyako.
