Eleven suspects associated with the murder of Somtochukwu Maduagwu and a security guard, Barnabas Danlami, were arraigned before a Federal Capital Territory court on Wednesday.

The suspects are facing a nine-count charge bordering on criminal conspiracy, armed robbery, and murder as a result of the robbery incident that occurred at around 3:30am at Unique Apartments, Katampe Extension, Abuja, on 29 September 2025.

According to reports, the 29-year-old journalist allegedly jumped from the third floor of her apartment building in her bid to escape the assailants, while Danlami, who was on duty, was shot during the attack by one of the attackers, identified as Shamsudeen Hassan.

The other arraigned suspects are Sani Sirajo, Hassan Isah, Abubakar Alkamu, Abdulsalam Saleh, Suleiman Badamasi, Zaharadeen Mohammed, Musa Umar (aka “Small”), Mashkur Jamil, Suleiman Sani, and Abubakar Usman.

Items recovered from the suspects included a locally fabricated AK-47 rifle, a pump-action gun, a pistol, 36 rounds of live ammunition, two cartridges, knives, a cutlass, and four mobile phones belonging to the victims, amongst other items.

The court adjourned the case to February 2026.
