A 21years old, Maimuna Suleiman, house wife has been arrested by the Nigerian police for hacking her husband Aliyu Mohammed, to death in Bauchi town, Bauchi state. The incident was confirmed by the police state command after the family members reported the matter to the police while the suspect has since been arrested by the police. The victim was pronounce dead on arrival after sustaining an open wound in the chest believed to have died after serious bleeding from the knife cut.
The command public Relation Officer, Aminu Gimba, ASP, disclosed that the command has since taken the suspect into custody and will immediately charged to court for culpable homicide after investigation is completed.
The police statement partly said, Acting on information received on 5th July 2023 at about 2340hrs, the detectives attached to the Township Divisional Police headquarters, Bauchi have arrested one Maimunatu Sulaiman ‘F’ Aged 21yrs old of Kofar Dumi area of Bauchi state for allegedly culpable homicide.
The police explained “While receiving the information from their end, the detectives led by the Divisional Police Officer immediately rushed to the crime scene at the address and took both the victim and the suspect to the Abubakar Tafawa Balewa Teaching Hospital (ATBUTH), Bauchi for medical attention.
Consequently, the report from the hospital confirmed that the husband died of the wound he sustained from the cut, though the wife had minor bruises on her stomach.
According to the police, prelimnary investigation revealed that the culprit stabbed the husband, Aliyu Mohammed, in their matrimonial home after a minor argument that lead to a fight between the two about 1800hrs on 5th July, 2023.
Police disclosed that “During interrogation, the suspect confessed to having committed the crime. Meanwhile, the Commissioner of Police CP Auwal Musa Mohammad, psc, has directed that the case be transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) for a discreet investigation to further unravel the circumstances that surround the death of the victim.
Meanwhile, the police has assured that after investigation, the suspect will be charged to court for prosecution.
