On Wednesday, 17th July 2019, a property believed to be acquired through the proceeding of corruption by the late former Chief of Defense Staff (CDS), Air Marshal Alex Sabundu Badeh was handed over to the Voice of Nigeria (VON). After a prolonged court case, the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) finally secured the seizure of properties and cash staged in various bank accounts belonging to the late CDS. The property located at Plot 1386 Uda Crescent, off Aminu Kano Crescent, Wuse 2 Abuja is now the new headquarters of VON.
In a statement issued by the Head of Media and Publicity of the Commission, Mr Tony Orilade informed that “The edifice is one of the properties seized from and finally forfeited to the Federal Government by the late Chief of Defense Staff (CDS), Alex Badeh".
More so, the Commissioner of Police Ibrahim Magu, the EFCC chairman who was represented at the handing over occasion by the Secretary to the Commission, Barrister Ola Olukoyede, disclosed that the hand over is a testament that the fight against corruption is real.
Stating that " If we are able to fight corruption in Nigeria concertedly, we would have fought 70% of Nigeria’s problem”.
Present at the handing over ceremony were the Chairman of the Board of VON, Ibrahim Buba and Director General (DG) of the VON, Osita Okechukwu who led other management staff of VON.
