Operatives of the Lagos State Police Command have arrested one Modupeola Bamisade regarding allegations that she defrauded more than 100 people of about N500 million via an online iPhone fraud scheme.
According to sources at the command, the 35-year-old woman claimed to be an online dealer of Apple products such as iPhones and iPads, and she allegedly advertised the products at heavily discounted prices of up to 50 percent and also relied on social media influencers to market the products.
Many of the victims made payments but never received the goods; the suspect consistently claimed delivery delay.
One of the influencers she used raised an alarm when buyers kept complaining, which led to a report at the police station and her subsequent arrest.
More details later.
