Rampaging suspected bandits have struck again this time kidnapping about fifty passengers travelling along the Tegina-Minna road in Rafi Local Government Area of Niger State, on Tuesday. The incident happened when the three commercial vehicles conveying passengers, including the drivers ran into the roadblock at Kundu, few kilometres from Zungeru town, set up by the bandits. The vehicles conveying the kidnapped victims who have been taken to an unknown location were abandoned along the road.
A senior government official, who pleaded anonymity, confirmed the incident, saying nothing has been heard from the bandits to enable the authorities to know the identities of those kidnapped.
Kundu is the town, where 42 passengers travelling in the Niger State Transport Authority (NSTA) vehicle were kidnapped over three weeks ago.
The state Government later secured the release of the commuters eight days after their abduction.
