Security forces in the Republic of Chad have arrested the 18-year-old son of the late founder of Boko Haram, Mohammed Yusuf. The terrorist identified as Abdrahman Mohammed Yusuf, a.k.a. Abdraman Mahamat Abdowlaye, was reportedly arrested along with 5 other terrorists suspected to be associated with the Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP), a splinter group of Boko Haram that broke away in 2016 allegedly over ideological differences.

According to sources, Abdrahman is the younger brother of the current leader of ISWAP, Habib Yusuf, also known as Abu Mus’ab Al-Barnawi.

Mohammed Yusuf was killed in 2009 when Abdrahman was still an infant, and it is believed he was indoctrinated into extremism at an early age.

He reportedly recently rose within ISWAP ranks, emerging as a field commander within the Lake Chad region, and is the head of the 6-man terrorist cell that was captured by Chadian forces.
