Nigerians across globe are to gather in Abuja to witness the historic gathering of African descendants, an initiative to harness the potential of Nigerians abroad for national development. This was disclosed by African Descendants in Diaspora Union (AfriDU), President, Professor Arch-bishop Chidiebere Anelechi Ogbu, the organizer of the event, during a courtesy visit to the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Senator George Akume.

The event is in partnership with the Nigerians in Diaspora Commission (NiDCOM) and is aimed at strengthening ties between Nigeria and its Diaspora community.

The gathering is scheduled for October 2024 with over 2,000 participants drawn from across the globe including representatives from South America, USA, and Canada.

Akume, who welcomed the initiative and contributions of Nigerians in the Diaspora to their host country for advance economic and technological strategies, also urged all to be in attendance to promote our country.

He assured that NiDCOM would collaborate with AfriDU to develop a policy framework to reintegrate Africans of Nigerian descent into their ancestral land.
