The Department of State Services, DSS, might not have gotten it all right in some of its operations over the years, paving way for unwarranted media fallacies on some unsolicited questions surrounding the professionalism of the DSS operations. The new gladiator piloting the affairs of the Service has sharpened its operation standard to its core responsibilities, promoting its integrity to covert strategies which it is established for. That is why it is pointless for an attention seeker like Omoyele Sowore to sneer against the DSS, as well as conscripting his followers to do the same in the name of activism.
Sowore, on his X account, @yeleSowore, posited that security agencies including members of the DSS barricaded the Abuja Federal High Court, during a sitting involving the Economic and Financial Crime Commission and the former governor of Kogi state, Yahaya Bello, hence denying entry into the premises, attracting needless attention; which is always Sowore’s quest to trend on social media.
Imagine Sowore, a lawyer, disturbing court proceedings involving cases of financial fraud. A well-known informed character like Sowore, who poses like a politician and behaves like an activist, could not differentiate specific security agencies despite being in their usual uniform, caliber of rifles, and signees; this tells all about a-would-be-leader who struggles to promote heated sentiments against government officials, institutions and its policies. His disrespectful use of words against people who do not flow in line with his ideology is irrational and needs to be questioned.
Leaders respect public institutions irrespective of their ideology and negotiate and demand explanations in a civilized manner, while sponsored influencers throw tantrums and gaslight well-respected individuals. The onus lies on the Nigerian populace to demand Sowore to make his stance clear on whether he is an aspiring leader that the youth should idolize or just a random influencer that wants to trend on the social media space to get paid by X or Tiktok.
